The case for Christ as the Messiah begins with His birth, which was predicted hundreds of years before. He was born to a virgin of the bloodline of King David, through the Holy Spirit. His birth was announced by angels, wise men, and even the stars. He was born in a humble manner, among animals and in a manger. Jesus was wise beyond His years and astounded the rabbis and teachers in the temple by His understanding.
He chose His disciples from those of the lowest station and least education. These were fishermen, tax collectors, and even one who had persecuted and killed believers. Christ healed the sick and homeless. He gave to the poor, raised the dead, made the lame walk. Jesus gave sight to the blind and cured leprosy. He prophesied and forgave sin.
The best part: Jesus the Christ died for OUR sins. He lived a completely sinless life. Jesus is the only person who ever lived who can say that. He allowed Himself to be arrested, taken, beaten, ridiculed and crucified, ALL FOR US. So that WE can have everlasting life. He became sin for us and freely offers salvation. All we have to do is accept this gracious gift and trust Him with our lives. One day each of us will stand before God and give an account for everything we have done, whether secret or public. Will you have Jesus there to say that you are washed clean of your sins? That you are His, now and forevermore?
